New Life Baptist Church was organized August 7, 1977 by Pastor Richard Rupp. The church first met in the facilities of Converse Elementary School. The church began meeting at 101 North Street in December of 1978. The church enlarged that building in May of 1979 and again in 1986 to allow for Sunday School and nursery space.
    New Life Baptist Church began construction of a new auditorium in January 1987 and occupied that structure in November of that same year. In January 2001 New Life Baptist Church called Charles Lewis as pastor. Pastor Lewis has pastored churches in Tennessee and Texas. Pastor Lewis and his family also were missionaries in Colombia, South America for seven years.
    New Life Baptist church helps in the support of over 35 missionaries in many parts of the world. Other ministries include Master Club for children, an active youth ministry, and Faith Bible Institute.
